Bake
Baking is definitely my thing. I probably started out by making poffertjes and wentelteefjes (both delicious yet simple Dutch food) with my best friend Diane when we were in primary school.
When I moved out of the house, I started to bake the usual cakes and boterkoek (butter biscuit). Not always successfully, I remember wondering why the boterkoek wouldn’t get firm. The answer came from rereading the ingredients list; it said 200 grams of butter, not two packages... Anyway, I have learned a lot since. Also how to cover up mistakes ;o).
Nowadays, I’m into making high tea’s. This means making a lot of different cakes, some quiches, sandwiches and chocolates. My birthday is a yearly excuse to go crazy and oblige my friends and family to come and taste the goodies.
Consider the anticipation of deciding what to make, the excitement of getting ‘the job’ done and the happiness of watching people enjoying my food, and you will get a hint of why I love to do this.
Baking with Esmee (Sander’s god child) is always a special event! Enjoy: Esmee making a candy face cake, decorating cookies and baking a house of cookie dough!
To tickle your taste buds, you will find some pix of the things I have made so far under BakePix.
